Los Angeles Dodgers Information
The Los Angeles Dodgers are a Major League Baseball franchise from Los Angeles, California. The team is a member of the Western Division of the National League.
The Los Angeles Dodgers are one of the most storied franchises in baseball and in all major league sports. The team logo of the Los Angeles Dodgers features a classic, cursive blue typeset with a red baseball on top, while the team insignia has the letters L and A with a blue background. The current team home jersey is white and blue with the Dodgers logo on the front, while the road jersey is gray and blue with the same pattern as the home jersey. Both jerseys have red numbers, and the players wear blue caps.
The Los Angeles Dodgers were known by many names before they became what they are today. From their origin as the famous Brooklyn Dodgers in Brooklyn, New York, they were named the Brooklyn Atlantics, Grays, Bridegrooms, and then Grooms. At the turn of the 20th century, they became the Brooklyn Suberbas. After that, they became the Brooklyn Trolley Dodgers for two years before becoming the Brooklyn Dodgers in the 30's. The team eventually uprooted and moved to Los Angeles to become the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Los Angeles Dodgers have been playing their games in the historic Dodger Stadium since the sixties.
Any of the estimated 56,000 Los Angeles Dodgers tickets are always a hot property in the L.A. area, especially when the San Francisco Giants come into town. The Giants and the Dodgers share one of the most heated, long-term rivalries in baseball. The energy is always electric every game, but especially during the playoffs, the World Series, or when the Giants come to play.
The Dodger Stadium is located at Chavez Ravine on a hill above the city of Los Angeles. Located near downtown L.A., the stadium has become one of the most historic and iconic structures of the city much like Wrigley Field and Fenway Park. The Dodger Stadium hosted the 1980 MLB All-Star game, as well as the MLB World Series in 1963, 1965, 1966, 1974, 1977, 1978, 1981, and 1988. The Dodgers are a big part of the best memories of L.A. baseball fans especially after winning the World Series six times, with the last one in 1988.
The Dodgers have always had a large fan base, becoming the first franchise to attract more than three million fans in a season. There have been some great Dodgers players such as Sandy Koufax, Manny Ramirez, and retired numbers Pee Wee Reese, Roy Campanella, and Jackie Robinson. The all-time total attendance for the Dodgers franchise reached more than 175 million, which is a record for all major league franchises. The franchise also set a world record when fans bought Dodgers tickets for the largest attendance at a single baseball game against the Boston Red Sox in honor of the Dodger's 50th anniversary in Los Angeles. Over 115,000 fans came to see that game, and the proceeds of the event benefitted ThinkCure, a charity that supports cancer research for the inner city children of Los Angeles.
Although the Dodgers have not won a World Series championship for more than 20 years and counting, fan support has never been higher. You can buy Dodgers tickets for a regular season game, and you will see fans lining up to watch. The Dodgers have some of the most faithful fans in baseball, and with a little bit of luck from the baseball gods, their fortunes might just turn around. Buy a Los Angeles Dodgers ticket and support the team in its run for the World Series title.
