Florida Marlins Tickets

When we think about baseball teams most of us think of teams that have been around for generations; teams that have a long history; teams with several World Series wins, and teams that have numerous hall of fame players among their ranks.  Of course there are a few teams that are relatively new to Major League Baseball, one of these being the Florida Marlins.

The Florida Marlins, along with the Colorado Rockies came into existence in the early 1990's as part of Major League Baseball's expansion into new areas.  The Marlins became part of the National League East joining teams such as the Atlanta Braves and the New York Mets.  While a young team compared to their competition, the Florida Marlins have proven themselves by winning two World Series titles within 10 years of being founded.

The team colors of the Marlins are similar to the team they share a stadium with, the Miami Dolphins.  The bright teal along with the gray, white, and black makes it easy to pick out the Marlins uniform.  While most of the time the team sports the white uniform with pinstripes or the gray uniform with their logo across the chest they have an alternative uniform used for special occasions.  The alternative uniform is comprised of a black shirt and white pinstriped pants.  All uniforms are accompanied by black socks.  The team logo is a circle with a baseball background and a marlin jumping through the circle.  Florida Marlins hats feature the jumping fish.

The Florida Marlins home base is located near Miami Florida, and the team is named after the Marlin, a fish that is prevalent along the Florida coastline.  While the team shares Dolphin Stadium with the NFL's Miami Dolphins, plans have been made to rename the team to the Miami Marlins and erect a new stadium that will be used as the new home field for the Marlins.  This change is set to occur at the beginning of the 2012 Major League Baseball Season.

Florida Marlins tickets are a hot commodity among hard core fans of the team.  Many purchase season tickets while others attend several games each season.  Whether you are sitting behind home plate enjoying the game or along the outfield wall there is never a dull moment at Dolphin Stadium.  Erected in mid-1980s the stadium has gone through several name changes over the years.  First known as Joe Robbie Stadium after the first owner of the Dolphins the stadium was later renamed Pro Player Stadium then Pro Player Ball Park.  The Pro Player Stadium was once again renamed, this time to Dolphin Stadium.

In their brief history the Marlins have reached the playoffs on two separate occasions.  On both the latter occasions the Fish, as they are sometimes called, pulled off World Series wins by beating the Cleveland Indians and the New York Yankees.

In the late 1990's the team was the youngest team in history to win beating the previous record held by the New York Yankees.  In both series the Marlins were considered to be the underdogs and with the victories gained many loyal followers, especially since they were wild card winners going into the divisional playoffs on both occasions.
