Colorado Rockies Tickets

During the early 1990's, the commissioner of baseball determined that two additional teams needed to be added to the National League Division of Major League Baseball.  These two teams would expand the sport into new cities and would mark the first time in many years that a new team was brought into the sport.  The two teams were the Florida Marlins and the Colorado Rockies.

In 1993, the Colorado Rockies became part of the West Division of the National League joining the Los Angeles Dodgers, San Diego Padres, and the San Francisco Giants.  As one of only a handful of teams in the western part of the US, the Colorado Rockies quickly garnered a following.

When the Rockies first arrived on the scene, they called Mile High Stadium home.  Mile High Stadium had been the home of the Denver Broncos since the 1960's.  Mile High Stadium was later demolished to make room for the new Broncos field.  Today, the Colorado Rockies play their home games at Coors Field.  Opening in 1995, Coors Field was known as the batter's paradise.  Named for the Coors Brewing Company, the field is home to several restaurants and has a capacity of over 50,000 people.

One of the reasons so many players loved visiting Coors Field was because of the mountain air.  The high elevation of the ballpark gave batters a higher than average chance of hitting a home run.  In the early years of the park, several home runs were hit during each game.  It was later determined that the reason for the home runs was not the density of the air, but the dryness of the air.  At higher elevations, baseballs dry out making them easier to hit long distances.  Since this realization occurred, steps have been made to store the balls in a manner that does not allow drying out to occur.

The Colorado Rockies are named after the Rocky Mountain range that runs through the Denver area.  When the team is playing games at home, they wear a uniform of white with pinstripes and the team name across the chest.  While on the road, Rockies players wear a uniform of grey with Colorado written across the chest.  The team logo depicts the Rocky Mountains and is stitched into the player's hats.  The team colors are white, grey, purple, and black, similar to the colors worn by the Denver Broncos NFL team.

Over the course of the team's short history, those who have been lucky enough to score Colorado Rockies tickets have seen some great games.  The Rockies have made the playoffs in two different seasons and once to the World Series in 2007.  Although it took several years for the team to have a winning season, fans never gave up.  It's this loyal following that makes the Rockies one of the greatest success stories in baseball.

Notable players for the Colorado Rockies include Andres Gallaraga, Larry Walker, Darryl Kile, Todd Helton, Denny Neagle, Vinny Castilla, and many others.  Because of the short life of the Rockies, no members of the team have been inducted into the Hall of Fame and only the jersey of Jackie Robinson has been retired, as with other MLB teams.

When the Rockies came to Denver, many new fans were born.  These fans have been there to see firsthand the growth of the Rockies from a struggling expansion team to a franchise capable of being the World Series Champs.  Through stadium changes, management changes, and player trades, fans of the Colorado Rockies have grown with the team, introduced new generations to baseball, and had the chance to see some of the best players the game has to offer.
