Boston Red Sox Information

In Boston, Massachusetts, baseball is more a religion than a game.  For generations, Bostonians have been following their local team, the Red Sox.  When the team wins, great celebrations occur and when the team loses, fans never loose faith; they will rebound.  Few teams have as many loyal followers as the Red Sox.  Maybe it's the rich history of the Boston Red Sox or the number of great players who have called Boston home over the years; either way, Boston is a place like no other when it comes to baseball talent and loyal fans.

The Red Sox came into existence in the early 1900's when the American League was developed.  Though the Red Sox were not officially given the name "Red Sox" until nearly a decade later, they were always known for wearing the signature red stockings with their white uniforms.  Today the uniform has changed slightly, but the stockings remain.

Over the years, many Hall of Fame players have called Boston home.  In the early years, the roster included players such as Babe Ruth, Cy Young, and Ted Williams.  Other notable players include Curt Schilling, Nomar Garciapara, Manny Ramirez, and countless others.  Many of the team's most popular players spent nearly a decade with the team before retiring or moving to another city.

One of the great things about the Boston Red Sox is that they have been playing at the same stadium since the early days of the club.  While other teams have upgraded to newer parks, the Red Sox have played at Fenway Park since April 20, 1912.  Over the years, a few renovations have been made to Fenway, but unlike other classic parks, much of Fenway remains the same.  Throughout the history of Fenway Park there have been fires that destroyed parts of the park forcing rebuilding.

Those who purchase Boston Red Sox tickets know they are going to get a great show.  All parts of the ballpark can be seen from just about every seat in the house.  Seating surrounds the perimeter of Fenway Park with one major exception, left field.  Once used to display advertisements and sponsors for the Boston Red Sox, the left field wall is now painted green.  Lovingly called "The Big Green Monster," the wall is well known around the world for its size and ability to stop balls.  Some of the best Red Sox tickets are along the top of the wall.

Throughout the history of the Boston Red Sox, the team has had many ups and downs.  While they have been crowned the World Championship team six times, many believed the team had lost their chances of ever winning the World Series after Babe Ruth was traded.  Still, loyal fans of the Boston Red Sox knew another series title would come their way, and after an 86-year drought, the 2004 Boston Red Sox won the World Series against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Whether your family has been following the Boston Red Sox for generations, or you have just recently joined the rank of fans from around the globe, going to a game at Fenway Park in Boston is one of the best experiences you will ever have.  Boston Red Sox tickets are something grandparents and their grandchildren can enjoy together, or something dads can enjoy with their kids.  Each year thousands of fans flock to the stadium for a chance to see some of the brightest stars in baseball shine, and everyone comes prepared to catch those fly balls that head for the stands.  Will this year be your chance to take home a piece of the game?  Purchase tickets to see the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park and find out.
